Wire and Wood are an acoustic guitar Duo that has been entertaining audiences for well over 10 years in all manner of Adelaide Venues including hotels such as The Stamford Plaza, The Grand, The Brighton Esplanade, The Duck Inn, The Findon and many more. They have also performed many times at wineries, corporate events and weddings.
This duo is a class act performing true soulful acoustic renditions of songs from the 60’s to present day, and as the name suggests, without the use of computer generated backing tracks. Russell Stuart, the singer guitarist has a rare talent as a vocalist for tastefully producing the voices of various artists, creating a genuine quality sound that surprises and satisfies audiences wherever he plays. Russell Stuart also performs weekly as a soloist and is the front man singer/guitarist for Adelaide’s popular funky swinging rhythm and blues band “The Harmonics”.
Russell’s duo Wire and Wood has enjoyed the skills of various accompanying guitarists over the years, but none to match the reputation or talents of his present duo partner, Jazz guitarist George Grifsas. George has performed with James Morrison, Michael Feinstein, David Hobson, Karl Risely, Paul Kapsis, Tom Burlinson, Rhonda Burchmore, Daniel Boys, Mark Nadler, Robyn Archer, Don Burrows, The Everly Bros, the late Ricky May, and with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra to name a few.
George has worked throughout Australia, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific, playing jazz, pop, world music, theatre, festivals and clubs. George also regularly plays at various Adelaide Venues as the George Grifsas Jazz Trio. What George brings to Wire and Wood is sheer finesse, drawing from his limitless reserve of guitar styles and experience to compliment Russell’s melodic rhythms and soulful earthy vocals to make every performance a happy memory for the audience.
I can’t praise high enough for Russell’s musical talent and for his band members. His music takes me on a journey, and beyond! – Jules K., Malvern, Adelaide
